What colour classic buses do you have to offer? - The current fleet includes a 2 traditional red buses, 5 sophisticated black and ivory buses, a stunning red and cream bus and a Halifax orange, green and cream bus. We have plans to repaint some of our fleet and make additional vintage buses available for hire, please contact us for the latest details of the available fleet.

How much will the bus hire cost?

We quote for all work based on the number of vintage buses, the itinerary for the event and the distance travelled. Our quotes are fully inclusive, based on the itinerary agreed. There are NO hidden charges for hiring a vintage bus on a bank holiday or for wedding hire.

How many passengers can we take?

We have a seating capacity ranging from 33 to 72. This enables us to cater for all sizes of parties and events using one or more of our vintage buses. It is a legal requirement that every passenger has a seat, if you have more passengers than seats we can offer you a second vintage bus or a second trip.

Are your vintage buses available all year round?

Yes all of our vintage buses are available to hire all year round.

When will I have to pay the balance?

The balance is due no later than two weeks before your hire date, if you are wanting to pay via card then your balance is due no later than one month before your hire date.

Can we come and view your heritage buses before we book?

Yes you can by appointment only, please call us in advance and we will agree an appointment to suit. Weekends may be difficult in the spring and sumer as this is our peak season.

Can we pay by credit card?

Yes, we are able to take credit card payment via telephone, please call us on 01422 886 900. We can accept the following cards: Debit MasterCard, Electron, JCB, Maestro, MasterCard, Pin Train, Solo, UK Maestro, Visa, Visa Debit.

When will I have to pay the balance?

The balance is due two weeks before the date of your hire.

Do you supply a written quote?

Yes. Once we have agreed all the details of your vintage bus hire, we will send you a no obligation written quotation. Your booking will be confirmed in writing once we receive your non-returnable deposit.

Can we come and view your heritage buses before we book?

Yes. Please call in advance and we'll advice you when the vintage bus you are interested in is available for viewing in the showroom and ensure Tony and his team are available to show you the whole bus fleet.

Do you check out the bus route before the day?

We like to make sure that everything on the day runs smoothly, so try to familiarise ourselves with the chosen route, however this is not always possible and is not guaranteed. All our drivers are very familiar with the roads and the most suitable routes for our buses, however if you suspect your route may have difficult access or obstacles such as low bridges, overhanging tree branches or very narrow lanes, please let us know. Also, if you know of any events or local congestion hot spots that may affect the timing of the journey, please help us to keep your event on time by letting us know.

Do you hire vintage buses outside your local area?

Yes. We love driving our vintage buses and love taking them to new and interesting places. But please remember our buses are old buses, they don't go fast and you will have to give them that little bit of extra time to complete their task. If you have a particular trip in mind please talk to us and we'd be happy to advise.

Where is the The Yorkshire Heritage Bus Company Ltd based?

Our company is based in Halifax, West Yorkshire which is a central location giving easy access to West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, Greater Manchester, the Yorkshire Dales, the Pennines, the Peak District and Bronte Country.

Are your vintage buses available all year round?

Yes. Our open top buses are more popular in the summer, but are available all year round for the adventurous. If you want to hire a particular bus please try to book early.

Do you hire out vintage buses at night?

Our experience shows that on the occasions where we have returned to a venue to pick up guests late in the evening, the majority of guests have already made their own arrangements for getting home. We are happy to discuss transport hire arrangements for your complete day.

Is there a discount for the hire of more than one vintage bus?

Vintage bus hire from Yorkshire Heritage Bus is great value. Once we have agreed your itinerary, the number of buses you need, the distance they will cover and how long the day will be, we will provide you with a fully inclusive quote representing fantastic value for money. Finally, yes there is a discount for the hire of more than one bus.

Can you provide more than one heritage bus?

Yes. We are happy to work with you to plan your itinerary making recommendations for different buses doing different routes based on the number of guests you have and where the guests need to be and when.

Do you have a London Routemaster bus?

Yes, we do. Our London Routemaster is quite unique amongst other Routemasters available to hire. It has been restored with its traditional London interior complete with London transport seat moquette and old-fashioned tungsten bulbs.

Are any of your vintage buses those without doors?

Yes. These buses are called "open platform".

Are these old buses safe?

Yes. It is a minimum legal requirement that we have a valid Operator's Licence. Each vintage bus goes through a vigorous public service vehicle test each year and is regularly checked by our skilled mechanics for maintenance and safety

Can you display a personal message on the front of the vintage bus?

These are called "destination blinds" and we can create bespoke destination blinds especially for you. Please contact us to discuss these special arrangements.

Is there any extra charge for the decorations?

Yes there is now a charge for decorations, the price is bespoke to your requests.

Can we decorate the vintage bus?

We decorate the vintage buses ourselves inside and out with ribbons, bows and silk flowers to match your colour scheme and appropriate for the occasion. Contact us to agree your requirements.

Do you have a brochure?

Our website contains all the latest information about or vintage bus hire fleet, but we do have a small brochure available, please contact us if you would like a copy.

Can we play music on the vintage bus?

Yes. You can set up your own equipment and make your own selection of music.

Does the driver and conductor wear a uniform for the hire?

Our drivers and conductors dress smartly and professionally and act appropriately and courteously at all times.

Do you provide bus conductors?

Yes. On our "open platform" buses it is essential that we have a conductor to ensure the safe boarding and alighting of passengersfrom the open rear entrance.

Are your bus drivers qualified?

Yes. All our drivers possess an all groups PCV licence. They are handpicked for their people skills and driving ability.

Are you flexible on date changes?

Whilst the deposit is non-refundable we are sympathetic to changes in plans and will accommodate changes subject to the availability of our vintage buses.

Are your vintage buses taxed, insured and legally registered for hire?

Yes they are. Each vehicle displays a current tax disc with the word "bus" (not historic vehicle) clearly shown plus an operator's disc (the blue disc which can be viewed next to the tax disc in the driver's cab) plus all our buses are fully insured for carrying passengers and have a working tachograph in the cab.

Can we drink alcohol on the vintage bus?

Unfortunately for safety reasons the consumption of alcohol is not allowed.
